Report Abuse or Illegal Content

What we do not allow

The rules for what you may upload are in our Terms of Service. The short version — none of this is allowed:

• Sexually explicit or pornographic content, including nudity and sexual acts.
• Any sexualized depiction of a minor — no exceptions, under any circumstances.
• Intimate images shared without the consent of the person depicted.
• Content that is unlawful, infringing, or that violates someone else's rights.

These rules apply whether or not we notice a violation. We act on reports, and we do not guarantee that we review content before it is processed.

How to report

Email support@backgone.com with the subject line Content report, and include:

1. What you are reporting — the image or account, and which of the rules above you believe it breaks.
2. Where you saw it — the page or image URL, if there is one.
3. When it happened — an approximate date and time is enough.
4. Who you are — whether you are the person depicted, someone acting for them, or a representative of another service or agency.
5. For law-enforcement requests — the agency, the requesting officer's contact details, and the legal basis for the request.

Please do not attach the image itself. A link and a description are enough, and sending prohibited material by email helps no one.

What happens next

1. We acknowledge your report within 7–15 business days.
2. We check it against the rules above and against the account and IP records we hold for the request.
3. If we confirm the violation, we stop serving the account or IP address from our background-removal endpoint. Depending on the severity, we may also terminate the account.
4. We email you the outcome, unless doing so would interfere with an investigation.
5. Where the law requires it, we report to the relevant authorities. In the United States, this means the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).

What we cannot do

We would rather state our limits plainly than promise more than we can deliver:

• We cannot retrieve the image you are reporting. Uploaded images are processed in memory and never written to storage, as described in our Privacy Policy. If you did not keep a copy, there is no copy on our side to recover.
• We cannot remove an image hosted somewhere else. If the image lives on another service, report it there. We can only act on requests made through BackGone.
• We cannot identify the person behind an anonymous request. Anonymous usage carries no account, so enforcement matches the IP address. Someone who changes networks can get past that block — we say so rather than imply otherwise.
• We do not review every upload. Enforcement runs on reports plus our own records.

If you are the person depicted

You do not have to contact us first. These services exist for exactly this situation, they are free, and they work without you sending the image anywhere:

• Under 18: Take It Down (NCMEC) helps you get intimate images removed.
• Adults: StopNCII.org does the same for images shared without your consent.
• United States: file a report with the NCMEC CyberTipline.
• In immediate danger: contact your local law enforcement or emergency services first.
