Can I cancel anytime?

We offer a 7-day, no-questions-asked refund on every new subscription. If BackGone isn't right for you, contact us within 7 days of purchase and we'll refund you in full.

Can I use the free plan commercially?

The free plan is for personal, non-commercial use and results are capped at 1024px. For commercial use — product photos, client work, print — you need a Starter or Pro plan, both of which include a commercial license.

Does changing the background color cost extra?

Accepted Answer

No. Background colors are free and unlimited on every plan — including anonymous use. Swap in white, ID-photo blue or red, or any custom color and re-download as often as you like. Only full-resolution output above 1024px requires a paid plan.

Can I make ID photos with BackGone?

Yes. The Passport Photo tool (linked in the footer) offers 6 size presets — 1-inch, large 1-inch, 2-inch, US passport, US/Schengen visa, plus custom sizes — and 7 standard background colors. Single photos are free within your daily quota at 1024px. Print layouts (4R sheets of 6 or 8 photos), custom sizes, and batch processing require a paid plan or credits. Note: we only do solid-color background replacement and cropping — no face retouching. Always check your issuing authority's photo requirements.

Do unused images roll over?

No. Your image quota resets at the start of each billing cycle, and unused images from the previous cycle expire. Pick the plan that matches your monthly volume.

Do credit packs expire?

No. Credits never expire. Unlike remove.bg, where unused subscription quota disappears at the end of each month, credits you buy on BackGone stay in your account until you use them.

How is usage counted on paid plans?

Accepted Answer

One credit equals one background removal at full resolution. Credits are only deducted when the AI actually processes your image — if processing fails, the credit is automatically refunded. While you have credits, every image uses one — the daily free allowance doesn't stack on top of them. It picks up again once your balance reaches zero.

What happens when my credits run out?

You keep using the free tier: 5 images a day, 1024px, no signup. Nothing gets locked, and you don't lose anything you already made — images you've already downloaded stay yours, commercial license included. Top up whenever you're ready.

Question 10

Do you offer an API?

Accepted Answer

Yes — it is self-serve now. Create a key under Settings → API keys, top up API credits from $10, and call the endpoint. API credits are a separate balance from site credits, never expire, and cost $0.020–$0.033 per image depending on the top-up size.
